Rudolph “Rudy” S. Upton Smith, 65, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Wed, January 14, 2009. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on January 3, 1944, the son of Walter Upton and Alma M. (Ward) Smith.Rudy attended Crispus Attucks High School and Howard University. He also served honorably in the US Navy.Rudy is survived by two daughters, Nichole Hunt and Kimberly Brandon’ two granddaughters Pavielle & Kaileigh Hunt; two grandsons Micah Hunt and Justin Brandon; his mother Alma Smith; sister Tonie (Sherman) Nelson; three brothers, Walter (Darlene) Upton Smith, Terrance Smith, Cortez smith.He was preceded in death by his father, Walter, stepfather, Wix Smith; sister Valeria Graffenread; brother, Rev. Eric Smith.A memorial service is planned for Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Grundy Memorial Chapel, 2357 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Indianapolis.Memorial Gathering 12:00 Noon – 1:00 pmMemorial Service 1:00 – 2:00 pm

I am so sorry for your loss. I’m only just finding out about Rudy’s passing. I really would have liked to have been there to show my support for you. Rudy and I shared a lot of good times. I remember how great it was to see Tonie, Big Stue and Rudy togethr at the 87 (neighborhood) reunion a couple of years ago. I also remember when we were all kids at Attucks. Time flies when you’re having fun and boy did we have fun! Know that you are in our prayers.
